Hyderabad: US-based digital sports platform, Fanatics on Thursday announced its plan to expand its presence in the city by establishing a global development centre and double its headcount to more than 500, over the next two years.
The company entered India in 2018, with its first technology innovation centre set up in Hyderabad. Currently, 250 employees are working out of this centre, that is spread across 40,000 sft and has a seating capacity of 270.
“We opened our first technology innovation centre in Hyderabad as part of a commitment to grow our technology, data, and analytics capabilities. We will move into a new, larger office space in Hitech City by 2026, which will be three times the size of the current location. More than 250 employees will be hired over the next two years to develop the cloud commerce platform, backend technology, AI-based solutions, and work on data analytics,” Vice-President and General Manager of Fanatics, Abhishek Dhasmana told media here.
At present, the product development of Fanatics Commerce, one of the verticals of the company, takes place in Hyderabad. Fanatics has its main technology centre in Silicon Valley and satellite centres in the UK, Japan, Florida and other geographies. These centres mainly work on product development and innovation for Fanatics Collectibles, Fanatics Betting and Gaming. The company plans to divert work related to its sister companies to Hyderabad after the global development centre is set up in the city.
Fanatics has a global footprint across 80 offices and factory facilities, employing more than 22,000
employees.
